H2H- Hilltop to Home

H2H is a new initiative which started in 2011. It is an oppportunity for parents to work with their children at home on a creative project which links with our experienceology focus that the children have chosen to learn about in class. There are usually 4 H2H opportunities each academic year. Here are a few comments from parents:

“Keep going with the great H2H ideas, this was the best so far”

“Amazing challenge that X really enjoyed – keep them coming”

“I love these projects because the whole family can say or do something. We can work together although the main worker was X and he is very proud about the result”

Last words need to come from the children…

“I did good exploring on google”

“I liked the whole thing”

“I have done lots of things by myself”

Sharing Folders

Sharing Folders have been part of Hilltop’s partnership with parents for a number of years.  Each child has a sharing folder that contains examples of different areas of their learning. The folder is built up over the year to show progress. The folders are shared with parents 5 times a year and at the end the end of the year are sent home as a permanent memory of the child’s learning experiences for that academic year. We know the parents really appreciate the sharing folders because they tell us on the feedback form…

“Keep sharing this folder, it is a pure delight to see!”

“It’s really fantastic to see your child working in school during every time. It makes us updated about his new experiences”

“It’s great to see what L has been up to- he doesn’t tell us much!”

“Love sharing these folders- great way to see progress”

Records of Achievement

At the end of each year parents receive a comprehensive record of their child’s attainment and progress over the previous year. These are shared in the Summer Term and parents have an opportunity to feed back. Here are some examples of what parents have said…

“We are pleased with H’s written report and grateful particularly (to his teacher) for her teaching and care for H and other members of staff who have significantly contributed to H’s learning and well-being”

“H has really become more confident and acquired lots of new skills since she started Hilltop. Thank you for writing such an in-depth report, as this has given us a clear understanding of the progress she has made and where her strengths are”

“Your opening paragraph describing G really touched us; thank you for your kind words- as parents, that makes us very proud. Her general progress has really gained momentum this year and we believe you to be the catalyst”

“We are over the moon with all the progress that T has made, we have seen him turn into a happy, confident little boy over the last year”
